About John Gould
Alexander Nichols was married, second, to Sarah (Gardiner) Gould of Exeter, at Exeter, 29 January 1743/4 by Benoni Hall, Justice. Sarah was born at Exeter 5 May 1716, the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Davis) Gardiner, and died 20 March 1752 at East Greenwich. She was first married to John Gould, son of John and Elizabeth (Gardiner) Gould, born about 1707, and they had children, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Ann, recorded without dates at South Kingstown. John Gould's will was probated 9 June 1741, but the date of the will is burned away; it mentions a child with which his wife was then pregnant (NK Probate 7:187-189). Isaac Gardiner, grandfather to Sarah and Ann Gould, was appointed their guardian and another granddaughter, Elizabeth, chose him for her guardian (Exeter TC 1 [1743-1756], p.138).
