William J. Gover, 81, of West Limestone Street in Somerset, died this morning, May 26, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Somerset following an illness of three years.

Born in Pulaski County on December 4, 1896, he was the son of the former Martha Garner and John Gover, both of whom preceded him in death.

He married Mayme Gover on October 12, 1922, and she survives.

Other survivors include six children, William J. Gover, Jr., Dayton, Ohio, Luid J. Gover, Science Hill, Pauline Ruttenburg, Lexington, and Geraldine Redmon, Ruby Bickers, and Judy Meece, all of Somerset; three brothers, George W. Gover, Nancy, Clifford Gover, Somerset, and Clarence D. Gover, Frazer, Kentucky; three sisters, Ada Smith, Cynthiana, Kentucky, and Eva Gillespie and Olena Rice, both of Somerset; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Gover was a farmer and a Pulaski County native. He belonged to the First Methodist Church of Somerset.

Funeral will be Sunday, May 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Hall and Rev. Walton Gardner officiating.

Burial will be in the Whitus Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Pulaski Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
