Came to America in 1636 with his brother Thomas. Settled first in Dorchester. Due to wanting more space, in 1637 he purchased lands in Cohannet (New Plymouth) from Massasoit. He married Joan Hucker of Cohannet in 1637 at Plymouth. Removed to Taunton where he lived and died. From late 1639 or early 1640 to 1646, William & Joan lived in Boston, where 4 children were born to them. See pp.27-29 of The Harvey Book.
Children of William and Joanna (Hucker) Harvey:
From "The Harvey Book" by Oscar Jewett Harvey, 1899:
In 1648 William was one of the heirs named in the âwill of Agnes Clark of Ayshill [Ashill], Somerset, widow.â The will was executed 20 Oct., 1647, and proved 10 May, 1648, and from it the following paragraphs have been taken:

"I think it is very clearly proved by the public records herein referred to, and by other records, that there was no William Harvey residing at Plymouth in 1639, and that the two Williams "then in New England" were: (1) William of Taunton, whose wife was Joanna Hucker, and (2) William of Boston, who married Martha Copp." ---End of the section about the two William Harveys.

Member Charles Howell contributes, Dec 2017:
from NEHGS research database, Vol 125 page 88 Sons of John Briggs of Taunton. (William 2, john 1) Thomas Briggs3 b. 1669 d bef.1JUL 1746 m. oct 1689 in Taunton Abigail [Harvey] Thayer (wdo.) ...Her grandfather William Harvey of one of original settlers of Taunton. Sourced from: Ruth (Thayer) Ravenscroft's in published genealogy of Nathaniel Thayer in Society's Library.
There were two men by the name William Harvey in early Massachusetts: 1. William Harvey of Taunton m. Joanna Hucker; had Abigail, Thomas, Experience, Joseph, Jonathan. He died in the summer of 1691, his will naming sons Thomas, Jonathan and (deceased) Joseph.
2. William Harvey of Boston (d 1658) m. 1650 Martha Copp; had children William, Thomas, John and Mary[1] Theories for their parents:
But it is not known which set of parents goes with which William Harvey-- if either.
Proof that William of Taunton had a sister who married Anthony Slocum: "Anthony [Slocum] was one of the forty-three 'first and ancient purchases' in 1637, of the territory incorporated in 1639, as Taunton, in New Plymouth, now Massachusetts... Anthony's wife was probably a sister of William Harvey, who was also one of the first purchasers of Taunton. [no reason or evidence given]."[2]
Parents: Thomas Harvey, Agnes Harvey (born Clark). Siblings: Agnes Slocum (born Harvey), Unknown Harvey, Miss Slocum (born Harvey), James Harvey, James Harvey, Thomas Harvey, Thomas Harvey, & James Harvey.
