About William W. Koppenheffer
William W. "Bill" Koppenheffer, 69, formerly of 2212 Casement Road, died Sept. 4 at St. Joseph Senior Community in Manhattan. Born Oct. 12, 1927, in the Ashland community of Riley County, he attended Ashland schools and was a lifetime area resident. He retired from federal civil service at Fort Riley, where he worked in housing. He also operated Koppenheffer Nursery for many years. He married Betty Gaden in Manhattan. She died April 13, 1979. He later married Helen Fleming on Feb. 23, 1985, in Manhattan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a stepson, Larry Fleming, St. George; three stepdaughters, Janet Fox, Belleair Bluffs, Fla., Susan Newman, St. George, Joyce Murray, Wamego; a brother, Myrl Koppenheffer, Junction City; a sister, Carrie Young, Denver; a stepgrandson; three stepgranddaughters; and two stepgreat-grandsons. He also was preceded in death by a son, William Edward Koppenheffer, in 1968.
