In 1712, William Lampton and his family apparently moved from Charles County, Maryland to Virginia. In November 1715, he was a widower, with two young children, William and Ann and married Frances (Martin) White. In her will made 24 April 1716, Frances left property to William and Ann Lampton, her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, (terminology for stepchildren). In early 1717 William married Esther.
