William Linn

Per marriage records available on Ancestry.com a William / Wilhelm Linn born in 1773 in Pennsylvania married Elizabeth Laird in 1796. I am still trying to substantiate this record and cannot at this time prove that this record is for our William and Elizabeth.

Per the 1810 Census William Linn was living in Hanover Township of Northampton County, Pennsylvania with his wife and three children. 2 girls and 1 boy, all under 10 years old. Simon Linn was the son. In 1810 William was listed as being between 26 and 44 years old and his wife Elizabeth was listed as being between 16 and 25 years old.

In 1812 this portion of Northampton County became part of the newly formed Lehigh County.

Wilhelm Linn is listed as attending a Lutheran church function in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania on May 1, 1819.

Per the 1820 Census (August 7, 1820) a William Linn was the head of a household and living in Hemlock Township of Columbia County, Pennsylvania. The 1820 Census lists his age as between 26-44. His wife (Elizabeth) was living in he household with him. Her age was listed as between 16-25. Two children were living in the household. One male child 10-15 years old (Simon) and one female child under 10 years old (Elizabeth). William Linn was employed in Agriculture.

Per the 1821 Septennial Census William Linn was living in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. His occupation was recorded as a Laborer.

Per the 1830 Census a William Lynn was the head of a household and living in Hemlock Township of Columbia County, Pennsylvania. The 1830 Census lists his age as between 50 and 59. His wife (Elizabeth) was living in the household with him. Her age was listed as between 60 and 69. Per this Census information William was born between 1771 and 1780 and Elizabeth was born between 1761 and 1770.

William Linn's Last Will & Testament is dated September 27, 1834. William Linn was living in Hemlock Township of Columbia County, Pennsylvania.

It is believed that William Linn died in August of 1836. His wife Elizabeth, widowed, is identified as living with their son Simon Linn, in Montour Township of Columbia County, Pennsylvania. Her age in the 1840 Census was between 70 and 79, which would have made her birth year between 1761 and 1770.
