About William MacBean of Kinchyle, 13th Chief of Clan MacBean
William MacBean of Kinchyle was the 13th Chief of Clan MacBean. He married Jean Mackintosh, daughter of Donald Mackintosh of Kyllachy and his wife Jean Dunbar the daughter of Alexander Dunbar of Grange/West Grange Sheriff of Moray and his wife Jean Campbell daughter of Sir John Campbell 4th of Cawdor.
William MacBean of Kinchyle, 13th Chief, is verified by the Clan's official Seanachaidh as not being William Edward MacBean. The origin of the mix-up between William MacBean of Kinchyle 13th Chief of the Clan MacBean and 'William Edward MacBean' who is noted in Geni as father of 'Edward Price MacBean', is not known by the Clan's Seanachaidh and its official Genealogist. But this mix-up has created multiple repeated incorrect genealogies of parts of the Chiefly line of Clan MacBean.
William MacBean of Kinchyle and his wife Jean Mackintosh had the following children - the sons appear in order of age, the daughters order is not precisely known:
- Aeneas MacBean, younger of Kinchyle. Confirmed as definitely dead some time before 18th May 1722 and after 6th December 1720. His only surviving heir was his daughter Margaret.
- Gillies 'Mor' MacBean, 14th Chief of Clan MacBean - died at the Battle of Culloden, 16th April 1746, where he served as Major in Lady Anne Mackintosh's Regiment.
- William MacBean - died leaving two daughters.
- Donald MacBean - died young.
- John MacBean - ancestor of the current Chief of the Clan MacBean (2022).
- Anna MacBean (eldest daughter) - married Donald MacBean of Faillie.
- Marjory MacBean - married William Fraser, son of John Fraser of Meikle Garth.
- Elspet MacBean (3rd daughter) - married John MacBean of Drummond.

Any help anyone can give in untangling this mix-up with what must be a separate man called 'William' - William Edward MacBean, father of Edward Price MacBean, would be very helpful to the online world of genealogy.
