[William Malott probably died before 1850, since his wife and some of their children were living with his son and daughter-in-law, John South and Sarah B. (McAlexander) Malott in the SE quarter of Section 4, across the Hampton Road from this newly found cemetery. Sometime before 1907, Mrs. William Malott acquired part of the original William McAlexander II property in the NW quarter of Section 4, according to the 1907 Platte County Atlas.]

Only one child remained in Saline Co., MO; another daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, married Andrew Jackson Malott, son of William Malott. William Lester McAlexander married Mary Jane Malott, daughter of John South Malott, and granddaughter of William Malott, in Platte Co. in 1850, and died in Jackson Co., KS, too.]

[Sarah (Sally) B. married John South Malott in Platte Co. in 1848, and they were buried in the Hampton Cemetery, Platte Co., MO. Several of the grandchildren of John South and Sally (McAlexander) Malott were buried in the Rush Creek Cemetery, too.]

"Unfriendly Indians also delayed settlement in northwestern Missouri, but the 1837 Platte Purchase secured the area by extending the Missouri's northwest boundary to the Missouri River."
