William Mauchline (1879-1960)

William Mauchline was born on April 15, 1879 in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, son of John Mauchline and Elizabeth (Nicol) Mauchline. He was the brother of James, John, Margaret, Rachel, Robert, Rachel, Agnes, Gavin, Alexander and Henry Nicol Mauchline. They lived at 33 John Street, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, Scotland before William was married.

On 12 July 1906, William Mauchline, Master Painter, married Marion Semple, Dressmaker, at Swinhill, Dalserf, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They became the parents of Janet Stewart (Mauchline) Sampson (1907-1986); William Henry Semple Mauchline (1911-1985) and Margaret Elizabeth (Mauchline) Lins (1919-2000). Janet was born in Scotland, whereas William and Margaret were born in B.C., Canada.

Around 1910, the young Mauchline family emigrated from Scotland to British Columbia, Canada. (Note: 1955 death record for his wife, Marion, noted that she had lived in Canada for 45 years) William worked as a Painter for 55 years before retiring in 1950.

On March 23, 1960, widower William Mauchline of Fruitvale, B.C., age 80, died from 2 months of Bronchopneumonia, due to years of bronchiectasis and coronary insufficiency, at Trail Tadanac Hospital in Trail, B.C. Informant was his son, William, of Fruitvale, B.C.. Arrangements were with Clarks Funeral Chapel, Trail, B.C. On March 26, 1960, he was buried in Fruitvale Memorial Cemetery, Fruitvale, B.C., Canada.

Note: The name of William's mother is incorrect on his death record. It should have listed her name as Elizabeth Nicol, not the name of his wife, (Marion) Mary Semple.
