William D. McBrayer Dies After Prolonged Illness

The final rites for William D. McBrayer, 64, prominent Southside resident for the past 46 years, who died at his home north of Mesa yesterday morning at 9 o'clock, will be held here Saturday at 3 p.m. Mr. McBrayer had been suffering from paralysis for a number of years.

Mr. McBrayer had been a resident of the Salt River Valley since 1887. He was born in Alabama, and moved to Mesa when 18 years of age, and had been prominent in civic life here and in Chandler until afflicted with illness a few years ago.

He served as justice of the peace at Mesa shortly after his arrival here, and was a member of the sixth and seventh legislatures, as a representative of the Chandler district. He also held a number of civic positions at Chandler.

Mr. McBrayer had been an invalid for the past five years. He had owned property in and near Chandler and Mesa, and has made his home north of Mesa since illness forced him to relinquish his membership in the legislature.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Laura McBrayer, a sister, Mrs. Frank Fogal, Tempe, and two brothers, John, of Mesa, and Moroni, of El Centro. (Mesa Journal-Tribune, Mesa; Maricopa County, Arizona, Friday, 2 Jun 1933, p1, c4).
