About William Noah Morrow

William Noah Morrow immigrated from Ireland in 1838. He came to either New York or Philadelphia. He was an educated man, and also a talented singer. He was asked to sing in several Lutheran churches in New York city. He moved on to Ohio around 1840. He soon met Jemima Taylor. She was the daughter of Joseph Taylor, who didn't like his daughter being courted by a poor immigrant. When he married her three years later, her father disowned her. He was a carpenter, and a shoemaker.

William Morrow was a Civil War Veteran. He came to the United States when he was about 18 y rs. old. He spent some time in New York City where he was a shoemaker, bringing his skill with him from Ireland. When he came to Erie County he settled in Sandusky where he resumed th e trade of shoemaker. He finally settled on a tract of land in Perkins Tw. on what is now Co lumbus Ave. and is now part of Sandusky. He cleared and planted his 36 acre farm making it a very prosperous, productive enterprise in Erie County, where he lived until his death in 1880
