William Mosher

This William Mosher? Good Morning - 234 years ago this day my Patriot 5th G\Grandfather Lt. William Mosher of the 1st Westchester NY Militia assumed command of his detachment in Harrison NY after the British abducted its Captain (Richard Sackett). Although outnumbered almost 2 to 1, and by cavalry to his own infantry, Lt. Mosher thrice refused British demands to surrender, quickly repulsed their subsequent attack, and his men inflicted numerous fatal and non-fatal wounds upon the Redcoats. Lt. Mosher suffered no casualties. The attached is Lt. Mosher's report of the incident, which General Washington ordered to be included in his official papers, where it remains to this day. I am also attaching a link to a grave marking for one of Lt. Mosher's men of that day, further describing the action.
