About William Mountain
William Mountain's father disappeared before he was born. It was quite a scandel, always spoken of in whispers, never explained to his children. William was an iron moulder "boss of a corner" which apparently made him an important man. He wore a swallow tail coat and when he came home drunk would bring home sausages hanging from the pocket in the tail of his coat. He died in January 1919 just before may parents left to come to Canada. There was an influenza epidemic and he succumbed. Arthur & Ethel were due to sail for Canada but because so many people died at that time his funeral had towait until time could be found. He was dead for a week before they sailed for Canada not knowing when he would be buried.
Worked at Fowler's Iron Works in Hunslet.
