William Musick

William Musick1760-1803 370. William MUSICK (15) was born about 1760 in Spottsylvania County, VA. He died about 1804 in St. Louis, Missouri. William Musick fought "bravely" in his Uncle's Company (Joel Lewis) at the Battle of Kings Mountain, Tennessee. In 1793, he was arrested for robbing a peddler in Burke County NC. On the night of 1 Aug 1793, members of the Musick family and Allen Twitty went to Morgantown and broke William out of jail. A year later, they were all arrested, tried and convicted. He was married to Winifred HANNON. Clementine "Clemmy" GRANT (15) was born between 1755 and 1765. She died between 1818 and 1825 in Rutherford County, NC. Clementine Grant had several children, apparently without benefit of marriage. There are several court cases in Rutherford County, North Carolina, refering to her "bastard children." Through those court records and the estate record of her son, James, we are able to list James Grant, Thomas Grant, Susan Grant, Mirey Head, Polly Dalton and Franky Pearson. Polly Grant Dalton is mentioned in court records of Rutherford County as the daughter of Clementine Grant and William Musick (Court Order Oct 1791). Less official is the observation that a second child Myra Grant Head "was associated with" William Musick all her life. It cannot be proved, but it appears she is a second child of this union. William MUSICK and Clementine "Clemmy" GRANT had the following children:
