William Norris

"The Norris Family" is an amazing work in Genealogy, 1500 pages in four volumes. Only three copies were produced, and one is located in the Rare Books Section of the Library of Congress. Another is to be in the Kansas DAR Library at dodge city, Ks.

"They moved to Frederick co., Md abt 1777 where he enlisted 4 May 1778 as Pvt. in the German Regt (Md. Arch. Vol. 18 Fol. 321). They moved to Hartford co., Md abt 1784 where he purchased 21 Spet. 1785 two leases of reserved lands, 64 & 94 acres respectively, & had a certificate for 80 acres additional, a total of 238 acres (Land Rec. Annapolis). This land was called "Williams Trust" & "Norris Venture" & Norris Neglect", when resurveyed some years after his death was "Clover Fields". His estate was administered by Elizabeth, bond was made by Mordicia Norris, John C. Bond & Aquilla Mills for $2000 (Adms EF3 fol. 3) 30 Dec. 1806. Elizabeth was living in 1812 & appears to have been deceased bef 1825. The above land was in chancery to about 1825 & said records contain much about the family history, etc."
