The will of William Poe probated in 1832 shows that his wife Sarah was to receive maintenance on his plantation, his bay horse, and his land to be sold at decease or remarriage of wife and divided. He listed his sons: David Poe, $10, Matthew Poe, $20, William, James and Zadoc Poe to receive the residue of proceeds; daughters, Rachel, Margaret, Mary, Tilla, Nancy and Cealia, each bed and furniture, cow and calf, earthen dish, 6 plates, and daughter Nancy Poe $10 when she reaches age 18. Excecutors were son William Poe, Stephen Hussey,Esq., and his witnesses were James and Margaret Poe.
David Poe married Abigail Wilson in 1821. Matthew Poe was in the 1830 and 1840 Guilford County, North Carolina, census records but he may have moved to McDonald County, Missouri, since records show that the daughter of Matthew and Phebe Poe, Nancy, married George Washington Epperson on September 27, 1867, in McDonald County, Missouri. She was born August 7, 1846, in North Carolina and died June 1, 1877, and was buried in a cemetery in Anderson, McDonald County, Missouri.
