15 June 1501: Charter of vendition by David Cathcart of Trower in favour of Hugh, Lord Montgomery and his heirs whomsoever of the foresaid lands: to hold of him in fee for payment of two pennies usual money of Scotland in the parish church of Garvan at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist in name of blench farm if asked only. He was the son of John Sempill, 1st Lord Sempill and Margaret Colville. He gained the title of 2nd Lord Sempill.
