About William Shipman
William was born 6 Jun 1656, in Saybrook, CT and died 9 Sep 1725, in Hebron, CT. He was one of the original founders of the town of Colchester in the township of Hebron. His daughter Mary born 1706 or 1707 was the first white girl born in Hebron.
William apparently inherited, or was given much of the land his father Edward had received from Chief Joshua Uncas. Extracts of Colchester Records show him as deeding two separate parcels of 1000 acres of the land once owned by Edward. He was also the owner of various other parcels of land. His son Dr. Samuel Shipman was administrator of his estate.
