Robert Skelton, Sr. was born about 1751 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.

He married Elizabeth Bobo (French Spelling-Baeubeau or Beaubeaux) of French descent in Old 96 Dist, Union County, South Carolina. Born about 1757 in Cullpepper County, Virginia, Elizabeth was the was the daughter of Lewis Bobo (Baeubeau) and Sarah "Sally" Solomon.

Robert and Elizabeth (Bobo) Skelton had the following children:

1. LEWIS SOLOMON SKELTON (born about 1772 in Union District, Pendleton County, South Carolina and died in 1826 in Madison County, Alabama) Lewis Soloman Skelton had a son named William Hiram Skelton, his son was John Nelson Skelton, his son was John Hubert Skelton, his son was Hubert Raymond Skelton and his son is Duane Skelton. 2. Sampson Skelton (born in 1775 in Union County, South Carolina and died in Madison County, Alabama on October 6, 1826.)

3. Jeremiah Bobo Skelton (born January 11, 1776 in Union District, South Carolina and died either in Benton County, Alabama or Georgia on January 9, 1860)

4. Robert Skelton, Jr. (born about 1779 in Union County, South Carolina)

5. Rhesa "Reesy" Skelton (born about 1783 in Elbert County, Georgia)

6. Mary (Skelton) Williamson (born about 1788 in Pendleton Dist, South Carolina)

7. Johnathon Skelton (born in 1790 in Pendleton Dist, South Carolina and died in Elbert County, Georgia in 1827)

8. Sarah (Skelton) Dollar (born about 1795 in Elbert County, GA) NOTE: NOT SURE IF THIS CHILD BELONGED TO ROBERT AND ELIZABETH SKELTON OR TO SOLOMON AND MARY SKELTON

9. William M. Skelton (born about 1797 in Ebert County, Georgia and died April 3, 1867 in Scottsboro, Jackson County, Alabama)

Robert Skelton, Sr. died about 1826 in Madison County, Alabama.

Thomas and Robert served under Colonel Brandon, as did Daniel Putman. All three of these men fought in the rather ill conceived Siege of Ninety Six
