William was born about 1654. Baptismal records previous to June of 1657 in Topsfield were destroyed in a fire. He was likely the eldest son as he inherited the prime farmlands on the estate. He never married. When he died, he gifted his portion of the original estate to his brother John.He was a soldier of Major Samuel Appleton's Massachusetts Bay Division in King Phillips War, was at the Battle of Hatfield, Massachusetts and was wounded in the Battle of Narragansett, Rhode Island.
