William Aultman Whitfield, Sr

W.A. or "Bill" was the son of Seaborn Britt Whitfield, Sr., (b.2/28/1805,d.9/17/1881 in Hancock County,MS) and Mary Britt, first wife of S.B. They were married about 1823 in Florida and she died in 1839 in Florida.

Bill married about 1850 to Wilfreda Adeline Mitchell (b. 8/30/1833, d. 3/7/1903, buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery.) She was the daughter of John M. Mitchell and Lavina West. Bill was a stockman as well as a merchant at Gainesville, MS., engaging in traffic up and down the Pearl River to New Orleans. He is said to have amassed great wealth. He was also a Mason.

They had one son, Seaborn Merritt "Joe" Whitfield (b. 2/20/1852, d. 11/14/1898 and buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery). Joe married 10/3/1870, in Hancock County, to Hester Lavinia Stockstill (b. 12/14/1852, d. 12/27/1933 in Logtown, MS, buried Cedar Grove.) She was the daughter of John W.
