William WHITING (aka WHITEING) was born c1762
William was convicted of stealing and was sentenced to 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Alexander"

William was sentenced to death on 23 March 1785 at Gloucester for stealing a weather sheep worth 10s, the property of James Pearce. On 27th Dec 1785 he was reprieved to transportation for 7 years. He came to Australia aboard the First Fleet ship "Alexander" landing on 26th January 1788.
On 28th June 1790 William married Mary Williams. By 12th May 1792 William was settled on 50 acres at the Northen Boundary Farm, the grant dated 10th July 1792.
By 1795 William was living with Mary Smith also a convict (Pitt 1792) No record of marriage has ever been found. They had 2 daughters..Jane & Sarah.
1802 he had 10 hogs and the household (himself, one woman, one child and one free servent) was self supporting with 15 bushels of wheat and 40 of maize in hand.
In 1806 William was a self employed butcher, still living with Mary Smith. His buriel was recorded at St Phillip's, Sydney on 8th March 1808.
His legal wife was probably the Mary Whiting whose buriel at Sydney was recorded on 13th July 1801
