William Wise, of Bulloch County

According to Church Registers, William Wise was born in Maryculter, Scotland to John Wise and Margaret Tait on 5 FEB 1744.

FAMILY

As of 15 Dec 2023, we know the Wises immigrated to the colonies and there is some indication through their children that John Wise, of Kincardineshire and Margaret Wise (Tait) settled in Edgefield, South Carolina. It seems William Wise married Sarah Margaret where they raised 6 of their 8 children in Barnwell SC in the 1780s which is about 55 miles south of Edgefield [https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Distance+betwe...]; moved to Effingham Co. GA before 1793, eventually moving to Screven County married Sarah Margaret Wise (Denmark). He left a will naming the following children:

1. Henry Wise : Birth: ABT 1782 in Orangeburgh Dist., Barnwell, SC. Death: ABT 1828 in Clarke's Station, Wilkes, GA [Not Proven]
2. Nancy Groover Wise: Birth: ABT 1780 in Barnwell, SC. Death: 1855 She married Solomon Groover who was raised in Effingham County. See John Wise below.
3. Susanna Denmark: Birth: ABT 1784 in Barnwell, SC. Death: DEAD in Washington, AL
4. Preston Wise: Birth: 1785 in Barnwell Co., SC. Death: 1868 in Bryan Co., GA
5. Lavinia Denmark: Birth: 1786 in Orangeburgh/Barnwell, SC or Effingham Co., GA. Death: 1857 in Lowndes Co., GA
6. Rebecca Wilkinson: Birth: 1788 in Barnwell Co., SC. Death: ABT 1855 in Bulloch Co., GA
7. Zilpha Goodman Goodman: Birth: 1792 in Orangeburg Dist., Barnwell, SC. Death: BEF 1850 in Jefferson Co., FL
8. John James Wise: B: Sep 1793 in Ironmonger Creek, Effingham Co., GA. Death: ABT 1835 in Bulloch Co., GA
9. Jane Denmark: Birth: 1795 in Screven Co., GA. Death: ABT 1863 in Bulloch Co., GA

BURIAL

Screven County was first organized from parts of Effingham and Burke Counties [https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Was+Screven+Co...]. Then finally Bulloch County was created February of 1796 from Bryan and Screven Counties [https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=When+was+bullo...]. It is entirely possible Sarah Margaret and William Wise were raising their family in Ironmonger during a time the area was developing after the American Revolution when their home finally became part of Bulloch County.
