William Woodford married Susannah Garritt on 31 October 1745 in Connecticut.

William Woodford was commissioned Captain of the Colonial Train Band of his town on October 24, 1768. He was appointed in June 1774, one of a committee to receive subscriptions of wheat, etc. for the relief of Boston. He was Selectman 1775 and 1776 remained Captain until June 1779.
