William ll Knight, of Romsey

Son William, married Elizabeth Carter and fathered Richard (d. 6 yrs), Thomasine, William, John and Richard. Sons John and Richard were the well documented "Tailors" that resettled in Newbury, Massachusetts, USA.

I can find no support for the middle name of "Richard", but he did have a son named Richard.

Most trees list Jane Langburne as the wife of William Knight and mother of Eleanor. Others (such as the third one below) list Elizabeth Carter as this William's wife, and show Jane Langburne as his mother, but the dates don't seem very likely in those.

It looks like that third one is for a son of William Knight and Jane Langburne.....named William of course. But that page may end up with the wrong Eleanor Knight marrying John Bailey...or that could be the right one...Oh man, I think that is the right one. But there's something wrong with the birthdates either way. The current dates show Jane Langburne being 10 years old when her son William was born.

Added 2016 by Don Knights: My tree info has Elizabeth Carter as William's first wife.Their three children were, Phillip, Nicolas & William. Second wife was Jean Langburne. They had a daughter Elizabeth. The late Alfred C. Knight researched and wrote a short book about his line from Newbury, MA and Romsey. After his death I down-loaded a copy before Mark Knight's web-site was taken down. It is in "Word " format and is 800kb.
