Willis V. "Pop" Pett of Craig, Colo, died at Valley View Manor, May 7, 1998. He was 71.
Pett was born to William J. and Alice (Berg) Pett Dec. 4, 1926, in Brigham City, Utah.
He spent his childhood in Las Vegas, Nev.
He served in the U.S. his parents and brothers Lawrence and Fern.
He married Alice Fitzgerald Sept. 9, 1965, in Palms, Calif.
Pett previously lived in California and Utah before coming to Craig in 1984.
He worked as a machinist for a manufacturing company and a clerk for the West Kum & Go in Craig.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Pett enjoyed model trains, kids and dogs.
Pett is survived by his wife, Alice Pett of Craig; son Tim (Janice) Fitzgerald of Orange, Calif.; daughters, Susan (Larry) Fredrickson of Craig and Maggie (Tony) St. John of Craig; brother, Lorenzo L. Pett of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters Alice Virginia Robertson and Marilyn McGowan of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, Tracie Haglund, Nicole, Ty and Jesica St. John, and Chris and Michelle Fredrickson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lawrence and Fern.
Services were held at 10 a.m. May 11, 1998, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
Conducting was Bishop Gary Ellgen.
Family prayer was given by Lorenzo Pett.
Opening and closing song by the congregation was "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."
Eulogy was by Lorenzo Pett.
Colleen Fenton and Paulette Bird sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" and a poem was recited by Tony St. John.
Christopher Fredrickson and Brian Herring were speakers.
A closing prayer was given by Ty St. John.
Pallbearers were Ty St. John, Brian Herring, Wayne Haglund, Russ Granger, Christopher Fredrickson, Larry Fredrickson and Tony St. John.
Interment was at the Craig Cemetery with a dedication of grave by Tony St. John.
