Service Description: 1) FURNISHED SUPPLIES.
Son of John Cosby and Mary Wingfield. Wingfield Cosby was born in Louisa County, VA in 1746 and lived near Frederik Hall until 1785 when he moved near the Hanover County line. His will dated Dec 31, 1808, was probated on Sept 12, 1814.
He married first, about 1768, Mary Morris, daughter of George Morris. Their children were: [1]. Morris Cosby, 1769, [2]. Wingfield Cosby, [3]. Celia Cosby, 1773.
Wingfield Cosby married secondly, in 1775, Anne Baker, daughter of Samuel Baker, and Temperance Harris, daughter of William Harris, Jr., son of William Harris and Temperance Overton. Wingfield Cosby and Anne Baker,s children are
[4]. Barbara Cosby, born in 1776 and died in 1861, married 1795, Oct 14, Overton Hart Pettus, son of William Pettus, of Louisa County, VA., who was a colonel in the Rev War., and who married in 1759, Susanah Graves.
[5]Martha [Patsy] Cosby, born in 1778 and died in 1852, married White. Their daughter, Martha Overton White, married on January 27, 1844, James W. Lumsden.
[6]Ann [Nancy] young Cosby, born in 1779 and died in 1854, married, on January 28, 1802, William Lumsden, son of George Lumsden.
[7]Mildred [Mitty] Cosby, 1781, died in 1854.
[8] Jemima B. Cosby, 1781, died 1864, married Lance Phillips.
[9] Molly Cosby, b. April 29, 1782.
[10]Ann Wingfield Cosby, b.Aug 10, 1783.
[11] Thomas Baker Cosby, 1784, married Mary Garland Harris.
[12] Frances Cosby,b. 1785, died 1847, married nat Terrell.
[13] Overton Mastin Cosby, b.1787, d. 1827.
[14] John Cosby, b. 1789.
[15]Mary Wingfield Cosby, b. 1793. Her daughter, Anne Elizabeth Goodwin married in 1853 Alfred Duke, grandson of Cleavers Duke and Amy Cosby. They lived at "Mount Ida", near Hewlett, Hanover county, VA.
