Major Solomon Cambie, here mentioned, was a Cromwellian Officer; Alice, his wife, was a dau. of Henry Craine. (See Will of William Cleburn, Sept., 1684; and Indenture above alluded to, dated July, 1677). Her daughter Elizabeth Cambie m. William, son of William Cleburn, of St. John's Manor, co. Wexford, and had one child Elizabeth, who d. in 1682, aged 16 days. Thomas (No. 13 on the genealogy), the father of William Cleburn, of St. John's Manor, had a suit with Sir Wymond Cary (or Carrie), the Queen's Lessee, about certain messuages, lands, Courts Baron and Leet in Snetisham Manor, co. Norfolk, 81 Elizabeth. (See Pleadings Ducatus Lancastria, III., 238.) Catherine, widow of this Sir Wymond Cary of Snettisham Manor, co. Norfolk (c. 1614), m. Henry, son of Robert Craine, of Chilton, co. Suffolk. Sir Wymond Cary, of Snettisham Manor, was b. in 1538; Knighted in 1604; and d. S.p. in April, 1612. (Sir) Robert Craine was a Member of the House of Commons; and, in June, 1642, he advanced horses and money for the defence of Parliament, and “agreed to bring in fower horses for the defence of the King and Parliament not divided.” (See List of Members of the House of Commons, 1642.) Susan Craine m. Edward Walpole, grandfather of the Earl of Oxford. Jane, dau. of Richard Craine, of Dorset, m. George Evelyn, of Maryland.
