Zephaniah Wade was a son of Robert Wade and Elizabeth Sprigg Wade of Maryland. He married Verlinda Pottinger in 1730. They had at least three known children, per information in The George Washington Papers:
Eleanor Wade Sarah Wade Verlinda/Valinda Wade
Zephaniah died intestate circa 1746. His farm was subsequently inherited by his wife, Verlinda. Upon her death, the farm was inherited by their daughters, Sarah Wade, Verlinda/Valinda Wade and Eleanor Wade Barry. Following Sarah and Eleanor's deaths, the farm became the joint property of Verlinda/Valinda Wade, and her nephew, William Barry, the only heir of her sister, Eleanor. Please reference the memorial of his daughter, Eleanor Wade Barry, regarding the sale of the farm to George Washington.
