GEDCOM Note
The title "Mrs." is here simply to make clear that "Concklin" was her married surname, not her maiden name; "Eleanor" has been used as her first name because the only document that refers to her directly---the 1702 probate record of her son Edmund---calls her "Eleanor." The other forms of the name sometimes assigned to her---"Helena," "Magdalena," etc.---are merely guesses, based on different Dutch forms of the name given to grandchildren assumed to be named for her. Actually - Magdalena is a typical baptismal name given, so she could have been known as Magdalena on some church records, even though her name was Helena Eleanor.
GEDCOM Note
Life Sketch
Westchester New York Conklins are not related to Southold, Long Island, NY Conklins as proven by DNA testing.
John Conklin, Jr. of Southold purchased 1 piece of land at Rye, NY but he did not live at Rye and was not the parent of the Westchester Conklins.
In the Honor Conklin source, a detailed analysis of genealogical mistakes that have confused the families is found. It also cites historical primary sources and analysis, in addition to the DNA evidence, that shows the families to be different.
See Honor Conklin, "The Two Colonial Conklin Families in America: Y-DNA Analysis of the 'Long Island Conklins' and the pre-1700 Westchester Conklins..." found at http://longislandgenealogy.com/Two%20Colonial%20Conklin%20Families.PDF
Pages 18-20 show the families of John Conklin, Sr of Southold and of Ananias Conkling of East Hampton. Pages 31–32 show the family of the Westchester Conklins.
The Westchester Conklins were children of a completely different John Conklin and wife Elenor, perhaps at one time of Flushing, but many records of that town were destroyed by fire. This John had a brother Edmond living in R. I. whose will named all the children of the parents of the Westchester Conklins.
For information about the parents and children of the Westchester family, John and Elenor Conklin see the Honor Conklin source “Edmond Conklin Estate” found at http://longislandgenealogy.com/EdmondConklinEstate.pdf
