Located next to the Ackworth Friends Church, it is in the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 23 of Lincoln Twp. Hwy 92 East out of Indianola for 4 miles, on the north side as you enter Ackworth, Warren County, Iowa. Land was conveyed for this cemetery by Pleasant & Sally Bond, the first burial being in 1852. Another 3 acres were added by Mahlon & Mary Haworth in 1860. The early graves are marked by simple hand-carved fieldstones "no larger than 12 inches" and numbered with Roman Numerals--according to the order of burial in the cemetery. According to Quaker law at that time, it was forbidden to have fancy & frivolous headstones. The Roman Numerals were carefully recorded next to the name of the deceased and these records were carefully maintained by the members.
The original church burnt Dec.24, 1924. The church was rebuilt and dedicated Aug. 16, 1925.
