Profiles

The cemetery is located in Rehrersburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The old portion of the cemetery surrounds the church on three sides. Take the road next to the shed, up the hill, to the new section of the cemetery.

Formally organized in 1757, the Lutheran congregation was established in the region about 1746, now known as Altalaha Lutheran Church. There are records of Pastor John Caspar Stoever credited to Altohoe between years 1746-1763 of 41 marriages and 106 baptisms.

The name Altohoe was given to the region comprised in the tract of land that was laid out for Richard Penn, known as Richard Penn’s Manor of Andulhea. Andulhea Manor was further subdivided. A tract of four acres out of the northwestern portion of John Wolfart's tract of 166 acres was given to the congregation. The Lutheran church at Rehrersburg was about 2 1/2 miles from the northern boundary of the manor, almost 1 3/4 miles from the eastern boundary, and 2 miles from the southern boundary, and 1 1/2 miles from the western boundary.
