Atherton Cemetery resides in Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. Also known as Old Atherton Cemetery, the cemetery is active. Atherton's earliest burials date from the late 1840s.
"Adjacent to Atherton Cemetery is Old Atherton, just to the south on top of the hill. The Cemeteries are blended together. Old Atherton was started in 1858, and the new section is still active. Also in the 1860’s, some remains were moved here from an old downtown Danville cemetery."
