Cedarvale Cemetery was founded on February 28, 1896, when five community leaders met to establish a cemetery for the Bay City community and surrounding areas. Chartered in Austin on March 4, 1896. Sections 1 through 9 were established as years went by. In 1996 an annex on Cedarvale Road was opened. Named Cedarvale North (Section 10) with plans now to expand further.

With over 24 acres of beautiful trees, flowers, and paved roads, Cedarvale provides a peaceful, permanent place for your loved ones with options for all budgets.

Cedarvale Cemetery believes in honoring all Veterans by participating in Memorial Day celebrations where volunteers place American flags on all our Veterans’ markers. As of May 2022, we have 1,079 Veteran graves. We also participate in the Wreaths Across America a non-profit organization that places wreaths on the graves of Veterans across America on a designated day each year

The Bay City Cemetery Association Board of Directors is the governing body of Cedarvale and Cedarvale North. More than 124 years later, Cedarvale still remains a vital important part of Bay City and Matagorda County.

Cedarvale Cemetery is a non-profit 501(c)13, and welcomes donations to continue current and new beautification projects. If you are interested in donating or arranging a legacy gift, please use our contact form or call us.
