This project collects family information on people in the Henderson DNA Project who share a common ancestor within the past 12-24 generations identified by the SNP haplogroup BY11999. This haplogroup originated around 4800 years ago somewhere in Central Europe.
Some known members of the group are descended from Hendersons in Augusta Co, VA in 1740.
The original home of this group in Scotland has been studied using the Origines method. The surnames Patterson, Allison, and Ellison are associated with this surname. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the male ancestor of this group lived in the Scottish Lowlands south of Glasgow. At least some of the lines moved to Ulster as part of the Ulster Plantation and then immigrated to America through Philadelphia in the early half of the 1700's.

This kit traces to the earliest know ancestor, Samuel Henderson, born possibly in 1713 in Ulster. Samuel is well documented as an early settler in Beverly Manor, Augusta County, Va. No evidence has been found for his immigration or birth. He was one of the founders of the Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church. His descendants moved west to Tennessee, WVa, NC, and KY.
