Duke of Roxburgh 1838
Built 1828 St Peters Quay, 416t, W 3 mast ship. Owners Money, Wigram & Co., reg. London.
From London on April 12, 1838 under command of Captain Thomson, and touched at St. Jago. Arrived at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, then Holdfast Bay, South Australia on July 28th, 1838 bringing 84 passengers (65 adults, 19 children).
She also brought a dredge-boat (for the purposes of deepening the mouth of harbour).
Passengers:
- The first trip by William Bennett Edmonds and his wife Elizabeth Anne Evans, they had to return to England to attend Elizabeth's father who passed away. They collected their chattels and returned to South Australia on the Fairlie with Anne Evans, Elizabeth's mother in 1840. Ref: Daryl Edmonds
