Evening Shade Cemetery, until recent years, was known as the Sharp Cemetery at Evening Shade.
The property it covers was probably once owned by William H. Sharp (brother to Old Isaac Sharp).
William and both of his wives and several children who died young are believed to be buried here, but their graves cannot be located.
The gravestones of his oldest son, Isaac Elston Sharp, and Isaac’s wife, Nancy, are still standing.
For many years, the cemetery was surrounded by a fence of fieldstone and concrete and had an entry of large concrete steps on the East side.
All of that has been removed in recent years, and the cemetery is now open on all sides. (This information provided by Dwight Sharp).
