Garešnica
The Garešnica Genealogy Group (GGG) is a transcription project threading all recorded births in the Garešnica Chuch Records from the years 1748 - 1895.
The offline database currently houses just under 2,000 entries. As each book is transcribed in full they will slowly be inputted into the Geni World Family Tree via the Croatia Portal project.
1) Due to conflicting spellings over the decades, all family members will be inputted with modern spelling. For example, a woman named Helena Chaisza (aka known as Jela Chaisa) will be inputted as Jeka Čajsa. All various alternate spellings will be added as a note to aid in location of the original record for present / future descendants.
2) More recent entries in the Church Books record both birth and baptism dates. Keeping this mind, all recorded dates prior will be inputted as birth, not baptism dates. The majority of local citizens baptized their children on their day of birth or the following day. Waiting more than 1 day was a rare occurrence during this period.
When all Garešnica books are transcribed and inputted in full, work on surrounding village Church Records will commence as many citizens intermarried between villages in the surrounding area.
