Profiles

The Gem Memorial Gardens Cemetery was originally established and privately owned. Until the City of Burley took over the management of the cemetery. Starting in late 1982, grave markers were no longer placed in the cemetery. The earliest date on a headstone is 1931, but a grave dated May 20, 1947 has a small plaque attached to the headstone that reads "First Person Buried in this Cemetery." The cemetery is divided into six sections named, Veteran's, Meadowbrook, Meditation, Devotion, Rainbow, and Babyland. All of the headstones in this cemetery are flat, which makes mowing the grass a much easier task. The cemetery is well maintained and has a grounds keeper on the property in the summer months. The cemetery is fenced with chain link fencing and has easy access from Overland Avenue in Burley, Cassia County, Idaho.
