The language of the Scandinavian countries is a North Germanic language or Old Norse. TThis language was spoken in Scandinavia throughout the Viking era. The two major dialect groups are East Norse and West Norse. Danish and Swedish are classified as East Norse. Old Norwegian, Faroese and Icelandic are West Norse.
There are some very similar traditions in Scandinavia concerning spelling and names, but each Scandinavian country and some Regions also have their own unique traits!
