This project is a meeting place for users who share the H69 Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup, which means they are related along their maternal lines. Users in this group may want to share their family trees with each other to find overlaps and merge duplicate profiles in order to join or expand the World Family Tree and discover new relatives.

H69 may be a small haplogroup, but we are widespread. If your haplogroup is H69, it would be nice if you participated in the project. Research specifically for haplogroup H69 has not been done, but we belong to the sub-branches of haplogroup H.

Ancient sample St Gertrud 35 (grt035) belongs to mtDNA haplogroup H69.

Haplogroup H is a human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplogroup that is believed to have originated in Southwest Asia, near present-day Syria, around 20,000 to 25,000 years ago 1. It is today predominantly found in Europe and is believed to have evolved before the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) 1. The clade has also spread to parts of Africa, Siberia, and inner Asia 1. H69 is a European branch found in Finns, Irish people, and inhabitants of Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland.
