  • John Oscar Harlin (1855 - d.)

My great great grandfather, John Oscar Harlin was born in Stockholm, Sweden about 1852 or 1853. From what I could gather he was born about the same time as King Oscar II of Sweden. My great great grandfather John Oscar Harlin came to the USA in 1881 and married Louisa Anderson born in Uppsala, Sweden. He applied for Naturalization in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York in 1888. He signed the back of that document, "King of Sweden & Norway". While in America he worked for Thomas Edison on the 2nd floor of Edison's home in New Jersey. After several months John Oscar Harlin gained employment as a goldsmith/silversmith at Tiffany's in New York. He and Louisa Anderson had 4 daughters and one son. Christine Harlin; Lillian Harlin-Gessner; Desaderia Eve Harlin-Christ; Helen Harlin; Oscar John Harlin.
