Memorial Plaque – “Hart’s Chapel Cemetery was established in 1877. It was named for Joe Hart, a benefactor of Hart’s Chapel Church. The land was provided by the Margaret Turner family. The deed was recorded March 26, 1883. The metal fence was erected in 1982. The Hart’s Chapel Trust Fund, a non-taxable foundation, was established in 1978, at Elkhorn Bank, Arkadelphia, AR in 1990. Due to limited space, controversy over gravesites, the need for additional funding, and to insure continuous care, the board voted to charge for burial plots. A special service, in conjunction with Hart’s Chapel Church’s homecoming is held each year on the first Sunday in June, as a loving memorial to those buried here. This historical marker was made possible by contributions from many families and friends. It was commissioned in 1990 and erected in 1992 by the Hart’s Chapel board of trustees: James E. Nix, Jr., Ted Rogers, Douglas Nix, Carroll Rogers, Harry Hudman, Henry Jones, Marjorie Stevenson”
