This project is for the Heron Family of Jamaica, and related families. We will discuss family history and conduct research on various eras of the Heron Family in Jamaica.
Notable Herons
Captain Alexander Woodburn-Heron and Captain Robert Woodburn-Heron (of the English Navy), who in the 1700s, settled on the Mount Nelson plantation (in the then-parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica),since 1814 in the parish of Manchester.
These four gentlemen lived in Jamaica during the 1700s and were cousins to Captain Alexander George Heron, RN, of Williamsfield Great House & Pen (called plantation after the 1800s) and to Major Alexander Heron of Wigton, South Manchester, and his brother, Captain Robert Heron, and Dr. Andrew Heron (who resided in Jamaica for 37 years before returning to Scotland).
