This cemetery is located on the farm located at 2994 CR-1331 about two miles east of Hare, Texas in Milam County. As of October 2010 this property was owned by Bill Carlson, telephone number (512) 940-1154.
From Taylor, Texas go North on Highway 95 about 5 miles to the junction with CR 1331 and turn right or east towards Hare. Drive to Hare and then two miles past that village. You will see the sign for Milam County. Look for a white two story house on the left with green trim and a green roof, with a tall flag pole in the front yard. The cemetery is behind this house about a mile down a gravel road and through several gates. At the end of the gravel road, the cemetery is off to the left about 1/8 of a mile through a plowed field in a grove of trees. You can't see it until you get right up to it. The people who live in the house, just rent the house and do not own the pasture land.
There are about 70 or more gravestones in this cemetery and some are covered by heavy groundcover, with most tipped over on the ground. Most are visible as cows have grazed there a year or so ago. There are several iron fenced enclosures, the largest one containing the Hamblens. Some of the gravestones are unreadable and broken with pieces missing. There are fallen Hackberry trees and limbs all over the cemetery which presents a challenge for the photographer unless he is equipped with a chainsaw and a loping shears to clear some of the fallen trees and limbs out of the way. A crew of men with chainsaws is needed to clean up this cemetery and then a fence should be installed to keep the cattle out.
