1. Am I eligible to apply for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution ?

If you have at least one ancestor who contributed to the winning side in the American Revolution, and you can document your line of descent from that ancestor, then you are DAR eligible.

"Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution."

2. I think my great-grandmother was a member of the DAR. Will that help ?

It may. You can look up both ancestors and descendents that have already been used for DAR membership - and are on the DAR database - here:

3. How can I use Geni to help ?

As you build your family tree on Geni, you may be able to merge into the Big Tree where someone else has already done research. When Geni members find a person on Geni who is also on the DAR database, we identify that record. If you find such an ancestor, it is the starting point of your DAR membership application.
