  • Bartholomew Kindred c.1727, a weaver for Thomas Jefferson's household at Monticello, who ran the textile shop there for 8 years. In Martha Jefferson's handwriting, she comments on paying Mr. Kindred, for different types of cloth for the clothes and bedding of the Jeffersons.

  • Captain Bartholomew Carek Kindred, Oregon Pioneer who arrived in 1844. He was the first man to operate boats on the Columbia and Wilamette Rivers. He and his son, Captain Henry P. Kindred, were the first commercial navigators and pilots on the Columbia River and bar.
