Notable Kindred Descendants

• Bartholomew Kindred c.1727, a weaver for Thomas Jefferson's household at Monticello, who ran the textile shop there for 8 years. In Martha Jefferson's handwriting, she comments on paying Mr. Kindred, for different types of cloth for the clothes and bedding of the Jeffersons.
• David Kindred, Oregon Pioneer who arrived in 1844
• Captain Bartholomew Carek Kindred, Oregon Pioneer who arrived in 1844. He was the first man to operate boats on the Columbia and Wilamette Rivers. He and his son, Captain Henry P. Kindred, were the first commercial navigators and pilots on the Columbia River and bar.
• Philip Kindred Dick 1928-1982, internationally recognized science fiction writer and Hugo Prize awardee for The Man in the High Castle. Numerous successful movies are based on his novels and shorts stories, including Bladerunner, Total Recall, Minority Report, Scanner Darkly, and Adjustment Bureau.
