History

Kvistrum is mentioned for the first time in 1363 as Quisterum or Quisterums Fäste. In 1544 it was a tenant farm, which was owned in 1571 by Knut Knutsson Lillie. In 1647 Kvistrum was held by H-son [Lydert Henriksson] Reuter. Johan Reuter had it erected into a manor in 1671.There was a dairy at Kvistrum, and a hermit church or bark church. The manor included Svenserum, Tingetorp, and a farm at Kulla.

The manor then passed successively to the Leijonsköld, Rosenstierna, and Sinclair families. In 1701 belonged it belonged to Lt. Axel Leijonsköld, and when he died in 1729 at age 75, it went to Major Adolf Rosenstierna, who was married to a granddaughter of Reuter. By inheritance the manor went Count F. C. Sinclair. He died in 1776.

After just a few years his heirs sold Kvistrum in 1779 to Baron Johan Adelswärd. His great grandson Seth Adelswärd and his wife lived at Kvistrum as newlyweds. Since 1972, Kvistrum has been included in Baroniet Adelswärd, which today is an entailed estate companies. The buildings were formerly of the Caroline-manor style.
