This project is for those buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia.
Mountain View Cemetery held its first burial on March 8, 1874, that of two-year-old Annie Booth. Located on the original property of Cornelius Ruddell, a member of one of Vinton’s founding families, the cemetery was first owned by J. H. Upson family. Today it is Vinton’s largest cemetery.
The cemetery passed through other owners until in 2012, it was sold by Hilda Basham to Evergreen Memorial Trust, a company that owns other cemeteries in the nearby area.
The cemetery is also known as Mount View Cemetery.
