The earliest burials in what is now Oakwood Cemetery, in Berlin, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, occurred around 1850. The original cemetery consisted of blocks or sections 1-31 and a Potters Field area. Multiple blocks or sections have been added since.

The City of Berlin, which now maintains Oakwood Cemetery, has assigned each grave a space id consisting of three numbers. The first number is the block/section, second number is the lot, and the third number is the grave or space. (Ex: Oakwood_2_11_6 is in block/section 2, lot 11, and grave 6). The burials in Potters Field all have the same space id: Oakwood_PF_1_1.

The Griffiths Memorial Chapel is located near the entrance to the cemetery. There is an information board located near the chapel which has basic cemetery information and cemetery maps. There is also an online burial report and a map on the City of Berlin’s website.

The cemetery is open from 8:00AM until dusk. The cemetery is closed during winter months, but the sexton will open the gates as weather permits.
